Inside the House

The “Sitting” Hall (right) was the largest room in the original part of the house and continued to be the family’s principal living room, draughts and all, right up to the 1930s. It features two paintings by George Stubbs and a number of other fine artworks.

The Drawing Room (below) has been restored to something approaching its Regency heyday, having briefly been smothered with heavy Victorian drapes and an infestation of aspidistras. It contains a number of first class 18th century portraits of the Nelthorpe family.

The Dining Room (right) contains more family portraits and fine examples of Regency furniture.
